About the play

I Want a Country, a drama by Andreas Flourakis, encapsulates the simple ideas and emotions of everyday people to depict the personal struggle for survival faced by anyone who has ever asked themselves: “Should I stay in this country, amidst uncertainties, or should I emigrate to another place?”

However, can a new country truly be built while carrying within us the flawed examples of an old one? No one knows what to do, yet the memory of being cradled under their grandmother’s lullabies, in her embrace, compels the characters to sleep for now, and decide tomorrow what their path will be.
